Scientific Games

Scientific Games’ decision to sell its Lottery division for $6.05bn reveals the scale of the business, as well as the sheer size and potential of the global lottery market.

The SG Lottery business has long-standing relationships with 130 lotteries in over 50 countries, helping the company achieve two back-to-back record revenue quarters in 2021. In Europe, Scientific Games grew Italian instant games sales by over 20 per cent to a new record high, and ousted a competitor to win a contract with SCML in Portugal, operator of one of the largest instant game programs in the world.

It secured four other European instant contracts in Bosnia, Croatia, Denmark, and Georgia, is rolling out its new SYMPHONY gaming system to three state lotteries in Germany, and introduced a new instant ticket gaming system in Switzerland.

The company is also investing in the future with a new instant game facility in the UK to increase its global production capacity by 20 per cent, while also acquired UK-based Sideplay Entertainment to expand its portfolio of eInstant game content.

In the European lottery supplier category, there was no beating Scientific Games in 2021.
